Texila Zambia’s Premed Offers Pathway to Medicine and Pharmacy

Texila American University (Texila) Zambia will with the launch of its Zambia campus in March 2017, start offering a Health Professions Foundation Programme (Premed) which is designed to prepare a student to enter the degree programmes in the university’s College of Medicine.

The 18 or 12-months full-time programme allows the student to be eligible for the College of Medicine’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), respectively.

The reality is that most people who apply to college “certain” of their major and are more than confident with their career goals will inevitably change their minds . Without having the chance to properly experiment with their academic interests, many prospective Medical Doctors will experience somewhat of an existential crisis during college when asked to declare their major.

Thus, and importantly, students are provided with opportunities to learn a whole range of natural science concepts in addition to acquiring knowledge related to professional development in the health professions, and explore their academic options.
