12th May every year is being celebrated as “INTERNATIONAL NURSE DAY”, in the memory of Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing. The day signifies the contribution of nurses towards people’s health
The theme of this year is “Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving health systems’ resilience” signifies that the nurses play an important role to strengthen the flexibility of our medical system. The resilience of a healthcare system lies in its capacity to respond, adapt and strengthen in any critical situations.
Nursing is considered as one among the largest healthcare professions in the world. Nurses are well trained, educated and experienced for taking care of the patient through all aspects like physical, psychological and social life.
International Nurse Day is celebrated:
- To acknowledge nurse’s contribution to health services
- To educate and train nurses for patients’ welfare
- To discuss about various issues related to nurses
- To appreciate their work and dedication
